Frequently Asked Questions

Who qualifies for home repairs?

• Blueprint works with local churches in San Antonio to identify elderly, disabled, and low-income homeowners who are unable physically and/or financially to make necessary repairs on their homes.

• We focus on making homes safer, warmer and dryer, so issues like leaking roofs, and unstable flooring are of higher priority than decorative embellishments.

• For liability purposes, it is mandatory that the home is owned by the occupant.

What happens if a project is not completed by the end of the week?

• If this should happen, the project will either be completed by the next week of campers or by additional volunteers in the San Antonio area. We promise the homeowners a completed job, and it is our priority to make true on that promise.

How are construction projects evaluated?

• Blueprint has Board Members and dedicated volunteers with an extensive knowledge in construction. These people will either be directly on the work sites, or within a few minutes driving distance in order to oversee projects, give advice, and evaluate the quality of work being accomplished.

Who can come to camp?

• Operation Restoration runs week long camps for Jr. High and Sr. High youth groups. These can be church groups, or other youth based organizations who desire to expose their students to service projects in inner-city San Antonio. Groups have previously come from Houston, and San Antonio, TX as well as St. Louis, MO.

How is Blueprint Funded?

• Currently Blueprint receives funds from individuals and foundations. Camper fees cover program and operating costs for the week they attend camp.

Who supervises the campers?

• Currently Blueprint only has one full time staff member. For this reason, each church is asked to bring their own male and female adult leaders to oversee the emotional and spiritual well being of their students. In coming years Blueprint hopes to have the funds to hire summer interns whose main focus will be investing in the lives of our campers.
