(from April Newsletter)
To our Blueprint family and friends,
As soon as our summer camps ended in 2019, we began planning for our 12 weeks of 2020 overnight construction camps. So we’re sure you can understand, it is with sad and heavy hearts that we have decided to cancel 2020 overnight camps due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We feel this was the necessary decision for the sake of the health of our homeowners, volunteers, and staff.
This pandemic hasn’t changed our mission or dampened our desire to make substandard houses healthier, safer, and drier for so many San Antonio families living at or below the poverty level. We have been faithful in prayer while planning for summer 2020 and now we will be faithful in pivoting our strategies towards a new plan for serving these families.
We are dedicated to replacing roofs for the 18 homes with the greatest need. We will continue to work on the exterior of homes until such time restrictions are lifted to a level where we can safely invite local volunteers in for day work.
Most of our homeowners fall into the most vulnerable category for health issues. We are currently making wellness calls to check in on all of our families and offer help as needed. This has been a blessing that has flowed both ways as our homeowners are so very grateful for the caring phone visits, and many of them call and check up on us as well! We are in this together as we love our Blueprint families and continue our Gospel-centered ministry throughout these neighborhoods.
As the patterns of our lives seem to be changing day by day, and sometimes hour by hour, we know this to be true: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow and we will trust Him to guide us through this unprecedented season.
