I have had the pleasure to serve with Blueprint on and off for about two years now!
As I approached the summer after my sophomore year of college, I was awaiting the Lord to open doors for me to serve His people in a way that would challenge and develop me. At the time I didn't quite know what that meant.
A friend of mine, Matt Ebert, had consistently talked about his time at Blueprint Ministries in San Antonio. As I was seeking out a ministry role, the idea of Blueprint started calling my name! Knowing little about the job, little about San Antonio, and not having held a power tool but maybe twice in my life, I made my way to Blueprint headquarters. The following 2.5 months were going to change that. Within the first few weeks, I had fallen in love with the people of San Antonio, the staff of Blueprint Ministries, and the importance and necessity of roofs! That summer I learned hard skills such as using power tools, safety precautions, and how to shingle a roof, as well as soft skills such as leading groups of people and communicating information and expectations to others.
On top of all of that, I learned more about how the Body of Christ functions. Some are able to give their time, so spend a week volunteering being the hands and feet of Jesus. Some don't have time to give but have the resources to support others financially and hospitably. Still, some are able to give expertise and experience to serve the Lord in a construction capacity. As Blueprint seeks to restore homes and hope in San Antonio, I saw the Lord moving through obedient servants and stewards of the blessing the Father has given!
