(from July Newsletter)
So many times over the last couple of months I've heard people saying things like, “Is this the new normal?” or “Welcome to the new normal.” or “I’m trying to find my new normal.” As I have listened to these words, and tried to discern in my own life what the “new normal” is, I have become convinced that there probably is no normal, but there is much new.
One of the reasons Blueprint was created was to restore, or make new, the substandard condition of homes. For many of our homeowners, leaking roofs with gaping holes were replaced with new roofs. Not only did the homes receive new roofs, but the families living in these homes experienced a new normal. A new normal of living through rain storms without water invading their homes. A new normal of living without excessive heat and cold. For many of these families, this newness brought hope into their lives.
So as Blueprint’s staff and volunteers continue to offer hope in the form of a home that is healthier, safer, and drier we know that this is also an opportunity to share an everlasting hope – one found in the redeeming, saving grace of Jesus Christ. As our lives are made new through this amazing grace, we are reconciled to our creator and to each other.
We find that living in the light and love of Jesus brings newness to each day. So whether we find a new normal or just a new day, we can trust in the promise of God that His mercies are new everyday!
